Zune Software - DVD to Zune
This is the DVD to Zune Conversion Guide, for anyone who wishes to get a feel for how the software actually works prior to downloading it.
First download the software here: Zune Software, make sure you save it to somewhere you can easily locate it (your desktop for instance would be a good place and if you want to avoid the clutter, you can always move it after you install), double click to open it and simply follow the instructions and it will be installed in no time.
Place your chosen DVD into your drive and your software icon (usually located on your desktop, also within your “Start” programs menu) and you will see this screen pop up:

As you can see we have our arrow cursor placed over the top “DVD” button on the right, click that to open the software in DVD to Zune mode. Next you will see this screen: (Remember we have to shrink the image to fit our blog, the actual screen size is much greater and very sharp)

Now here are the steps to converting your DVD to Zune.
Click the “Open DVD” button, in this case we have Pirates of the Caribbean in our DVD drive. [as shown in image below - more after the jump]

You see the DVD info panel (top right) shows us all the DVD information, including, Title, Frame rate etc. But we can set our own parameters. Below that we see the profile dropdown tab where we can instantly select a predefined profile with many to choose from (in this case Windows Media 8 is selected .wmv).
Next step: Click “Convert” and you will see this tab pop up:

Free here you can set (reset) all the attributes for you conversion change the “Title Name”, change the “Save Path”, this is where the DVD file will be located after it’s converted to Zune format. The default is c:\ConverterOutput folder but you can choose to place it anywhere you like. You can choose to record from movie start point or at the position you’re currently viewing it at. Use the slider to increase or decrease the bitrate, smaller file lower quality, larger bitrate and, well you get the picture.
Click yes and it’s converting your DVD to Zune video.
Voila, it can’t get any more simple than that.

Today we’re going to show you how easy it is to convert your video files to Zune format.
First, download and install the Zune Software + DVD to Zune Suite.
Open your software and click on the “Open File” tab as seen in the illustration below. Here you can select one or several videos to convert because the software supports batch conversion, making it simple to convert many videos all at once.

In this case we’re just using one video file “Cars - DVD - Backup.avi”. Default output for Zune is .wmv but you can change this using the “Advanced” tab and change the output to any of the following, .wmv (default), Zune mp4, Zune H 264 or Zune TV, you can also convert just the audio track in mp3 or .wma and you will also be able to adjust the video size and frame rate if you so choose to anything you wish.
Now just hit the “Convert” button and your converting your video file(s) into a format perfect for play on the Zune!
That’s all there is to it, it simply couldn’t be any easier! [Even a Caveman could do it]
